Pet-Friendly Lodging

Whistler is full of pet-friendly lodges, condos, hotels and more, so you won’t have any trouble finding an excellent choice for you and your pet. Some are just a short stroll from the lifts while others are spread around the outskirts of the village and closer to some of the trails. Here are some great choices:

The moment you arrive at Evolution Whistler in the Creekside area, you and your pet will know you’ve found the right place with a check-in greeting that includes a pet bed (with two sizes available), pet towel, food bowl, water bowl and a delicious treat. All suites are pet-friendly so stretch out and relax.

Summit Lodge is an award-winning boutique hotel catering to those who love to travel with VIP’s (Very Important Pets) and is located in the heart of the resort just steps from the iconic Olympic Plaza and some of Whistler’s best dining. As an added bonus, pets stay free.

Blackcomb Springs Suites is nestled in a quiet forested area right on the slopes of Blackcomb Mountain and extends a warm welcome to four-legged furry guests with a pet “experience” package that includes a plush pet-bed loaner, water bowl and mat loaner, specialty biscuits, and more.

The Westin Resort & Spa offers a luxury Whistler experience for both you and your pet. Featuring upscale amenities, indoor/outdoor pool, award-winning dining, a fabulous location, and even a wonderful in-room fireplace that your pet is sure to curl up beside. Dogs are welcome free of charge.

At Whistler Blackcomb, we’re known for offering more choice than practically any other mountain resort on the planet and that includes pet-friendly lodging. Here are some other super-comfortable places for you and your VIP to stay:

Properties will typically ask that you not leave your pets inside the rooms unattended – it can create problems with housekeeping and some dogs will bark. Please check with individual properties for details as some will allow you to kennel your pets while out of the room. In-room sitting services are also often available.

Hikes, Walks & Parks

Many trails around Whistler are able to be enjoyed by you and your furry companion. Note that dogs are not allowed on some trails – please respect these areas and obey signs at trailheads. Some suggested hikes include:

  • Brandywine Falls
  • Whistler Interpretive Forest
  • Ancient Cedars Walk
  • Nairn Falls

For shorter but no less scenic walks, there’s plenty to choose from, including:

  • The Valley Trail, which is paved and accessible year-round for short or longer walks
  • Dogs are welcome on the multi-use trail at Green Lake
  • Whistler Olympic Park has designated dog-friendly ski and snowshoe trails

There are also some fantastic parks in the Whistler area where your dog can really let off some steam.

  • Alpha Lake Park in the Creekside area has a great dog park that includes optional splashes in the lake if they’re up for it.
  • Rainbow Park can be accessed by foot on the paved valley Trail and even includes a doggie dock for those coveted water leaps.
  • Lost Lake Park is a great choice in summer and offers a scenic trip around the lake

Please note that dogs are not allowed on some of Whistler’s signature hiking trails, including Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, Rainbow alpine trails, Skywalk Trail and in Provincial Parks.
