The Professional Ski Instructors of Canada offers a new system of training, education and certification to the ski industry and instructor community in Canada. A direct relationship and partnership with ski schools will drive a curriculum that specifically caters to current and future ski school & industry demands. Principles of excellence, inclusivity and respect will provide a superior learning environment to aspirational and ski teaching professionals.

Level 1 CSIA , opens in a new window
The Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance (CSIA) Level 1 is a National Certification. The certification course takes place over three days on Whistler Mountain. Your course conductor will work with you to improve your skiing. While also giving you the tools to improve other skiers from beginners to an introduction in parallel skiing. We have several courses offered throughout the season. Please click the link to the CSIA website to see which course fits into your schedule, & please book ahead of time as they fill up quickly.

Level 2 PSIC , opens in a new window
The Level 2 Program comprises of online e-learning and on-snow components. The on-snow training is split into two separate 3-day modules, emphasizing Skiing Skills development pathways. You may choose the order of participation, but it is advisable to start with the Skiing Skills module as technical skiing knowledge will benefit your teaching. Full Level 2 Professional Instructor Certification requires passing both components.

PSIC Big Mountain Level 2 , opens in a new window
The groundbreaking PSIC Big Mountain Pathway is designed to improve the skills of ski instructors who want to advance their skiing in double black terrain, coach freeride athletes, safely guide their students though extreme and steep terrain and further instill the adventure of skiing into advanced skiers.
In the level 2 Big Mountain program is to introduce coaching and guiding in Big Mountain Terrain. Big Mountain Terrain is a general term used here to describe steep, black diamond and double black diamond, off piste terrain.
The Level 2 Big Mountain program is broken into 2-3day components and requires passing both components
- 3-day SKI Course (Skier Development & Terrain Exploration)
- 3-day TEACH Course (Coaching and Guiding Development)
